GATE5.0 – Accelerating the green and digital transformation of Europe’s agrifood sector
GATE5.0 is a European initiative co-funded by the European Union under the SMP-COSME EUROCLUSTERS programme. The project drives the digital and green transition of the agrifood ecosystem by empowering SMEs to adopt Agriculture 5.0 technologies such as IoT, AI, robotics and data analytics.
What is GATE5.0?
GATE5.0 is an initiative designed to empower agrifood SMEs across Europe through direct financial support, business acceleration services, and strategic guidance. The proposal was successfully prepared by IDCONSORTIUM, reinforcing our commitment to high-impact European initiatives.
The project has a total budget of €2.7 million, of which €2.6 million comes from European funding, and includes €1.9 million in Financial Support to Third Parties (FSTP) to boost SMEs developing innovative solutions aligned with the green and digital transition.
GATE5.0 focuses on strengthening the business capabilities of SMEs by providing:
- Development and validation of new business models
- Strategic advisory services and growth support
- Access to tailored funding instruments
- Connections with key actors in the agrifood ecosystem
- Entry points into European and global markets
This business-oriented approach distinguishes GATE5.0 as a programme aimed at accelerating innovation from a capacity-building perspective, complementing other initiatives more focused on technological validation.
GATE5.0 will operate in Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands, and Lithuania, promoting collaboration among:
- SMEs and start-ups
- Innovation centres and clusters
- Universities and research organisations
- Public administrations
- Sectoral associations
This cooperative network will create personalised support pathways for participating SMEs, fostering sustainable growth within the European agrifood ecosystem.
A distinctive element of GATE5.0 is its strong commitment to opening new international market opportunities for agrifood SMEs. The project will provide training and advisory services to facilitate access to strategic regions such as:
- Southeast Asia
- Africa
- South America
This support will help companies expand their business models and build international partnerships.
The approval of GATE5.0 confirms IDCONSORTIUM’s role as a key partner in the development of European projects that generate economic impact, business growth, and innovation. We will continue supporting European SMEs on their path towards competitiveness, sustainability, and global expansion.
