CBE JU 2025 Call for Proposals
The Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking (CBE JU) will open its 2025 call for proposals on 3 April 2025, with a total budget of 172 million euros to support sustainable and innovative bio-based solutions across Europe.
The call includes 18 topics under four types of actions:
Innovation Actions – Flagships (IA-Flagship)
- Urban-industrial symbiosis for the valorisation of biological waste
- Bio-based platform chemicals from sustainable biomass conversion
- Circular fibre-based packaging with enhanced properties
- Upgrading (bio)refinery infrastructure for higher-value bio-based products
Innovation Actions (IA)
- Sustainable macroalgae systems for high-value applications
- Safe and Sustainable by Design bio-based solutions for textile production
- Scaling-up nutritional proteins from alternative sources
- Continuous, cost-effective bio-based biotechnological processes
- Bio-based polymers and copolymers that enable new market applications
Research and Innovation Actions (RIA)
- Valorisation of underused forest biomass
- Bio-based and biodegradable controlled-release fertiliser systems
- Alternative biomanufacturing routes for natural and synthetic rubber
Coordination and Support Actions (CSA)
- Development and implementation of new education and knowledge exchange programmes for bio-based systems
