The University of Almeria is now involved in the REALM project (H2020 EU 101060991) focused on the reuse of nutrients and water from drainage water from agriculture activities, thus helping to mitigate contamination of water bodies and the impacts of conventional food production systems. The challenge is to install and demonstrate suitable technologies for this purpose at a scaleup of 1 ha in two different locations.
