FAIR and open data sharing in support to European preparedness for COVID-19 and other infectious diseases
Project results are expected to contribute to all the following expected outcomes: European researchers and public health actors fighting the spread of infectious diseases, federation of viral and human infectious disease data from national and international centres; development of digital tools and data analytics for pandemic and outbreak preparedness.
COVID19 – HERA Incubator
This topic aims at supporting activities that are enabling or contributing to the development of large-scale, COVID-19 cohorts and networks worldwide, including beyond Europe’s borders, forging links with European initiatives as a global response to the pandemic.
European innovation council pathfinder open 2021
EIC Pathfinder Open may support your work, especially if it is highly risky: you may set out to try things that will not work; you may be faced with questions that nobody knows the answer to yet; you may realise that there are many aspects of the problem that you do not master. On the contrary, if the path you want to follow is incremental by nature or known, EIC Pathfinder Open will not support you.

Researchers make chicory plants without bitter compounds using CRISPR/Cas method
Researchers have used new breeding techniques to develop a chicory variety that no longer contains bitter compounds. The research consortium published their results in the Plant Biotechnology Journal.

The main method of involvement will be through workshops. For each region, at least six workshops with a minimum of 10 participants will be organised in the course of the coming four years (2021-2024).
What is the technology behind the RUSTICA project?
Inge De Bo and Jef Van de Poel are responsible for the project technical management of RUSTICA. Inge holds a Ph.D in Applied Biological Sciences and does research related to the biological optimization of the carboxylic acid platform (CAP).

First field workshop of the AGREMSO3IL project stakeholder platform
Technical coordinator Jose Fenoll from Instituto Murciano de Investigación y Desarrollo Agrario y Alimentario (IMIDA) and the prototype engineer Andres Sanchez from Novedades Agrícolas presented the project and its initial results during its first field visit at its pilot site in Cuesta Mula farm, located in Águilas, Murcia (Spain).
Exploitation, dissemination and communication update
CHIC is the Chicory Innovation Consortium. The project’s main objectives are 1) to implement New Plant Breeding Techniques (NPBTs) in chicory in order to establish it as a multipurpose crop for the production of health-related products with clear benefits for consumers, and 2) to develop co-innovation pathways with stakeholders for game-changing technologies, such as NPBTs.
